The gist of it:

We are looking for someone passionate about front-end multi-media development with a creative eye for design. You are incredibly good at HTML/CSS, but realize there is always more to learn and are likely already pushing the limits of HTML5 and CSS3. You should be constantly devouring new information and techniques from the online community and you likely consider yourself more of a creative than a pure developer because you really care about the quality of the work you produce.

You have an in-depth knowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery, Prototype, scriptaculous, and YUI -- when you see something done well in Flash you are instantly envisioning ways to reproduce it in Javascript.

You are always conscious of accessibility when developing, and are conscientious in developing unobtrusive code that gracefully degrades for older browsers and platforms. You realize your work isn’t done until the designs are implemented into a CMS.

You will be heavily involved in the user interface and experience of high-traffic websites. It would be ideal if you have experience working with server-side languages, in particular PHP. An understanding of Section 508 guidelines is great and experience working with WCAG guidelines is a plus.

Job skills/requirements:

• Experience: 5+ years direct experience
• Education: Relevant four year bachelor's degree preferred
• PHP/LAMP development experience
• Extensive front-end web development experience (Photoshop, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS)
• Experience in consumer facing web development
• Understanding of UI and UX, and are comfortable doing IA when needed
• Understanding of cross-browser capabilities
• Knowledge of SEO best practices

A Collaborative Environment

You will work closely with our designers and developers and will be our designers’ partner in saving the world from bad design. When working with our designers you will collaborate on bringing sound interactive design principles and usability issues to the forefront so designs are correct from the get go. Our back-end developers will rely on you for template and content implementation, they will work with you to make sure their code is set up for success.

Commitment:

This position is a salaried full-time position. You will need to be a self-thinker who is self-motivated and can self-manage to meet challenging project milestones. Project deadlines will dictate your schedule to a large extent, so it may take a little elbow grease to get the work done every now and then. As we mentioned up front, you need to be passionate about what you do.
